Should I cross-post this at the "teenage adoptees" forum?
Since I was a teenager when I got in touch and so on...

Just signed up right before i wanted to go to bed (and being it 2am, i need to!) but had to write here! Firstly thank you for creating somewhere where i can openly discuss an issue so close to me heart!
I was LUCKY enough to have met my birth mother (birth father passed away before i was born) in 2006 and meet up again this January...
Very positive experience overall - although very emotional. I actually did a speech on it the other month for couples looking to adopt!
Sorry to cut it short but will write big long story soon - if you're all happy to sit and read it!![]()
*night night!*

How did the speech go?

Hi Peter, thanks - the speech went well and I will endeavour to put it up here sometime soon - mind you this last one was a 30 minute speech- so its' the life of tam! But it might interest fellow adoptees! And for the record i totally plugged this site! I asked people to check it out - so i hope some people have!!

reunited with both my birth parents, I was adopted at birth and found my birth parents when I was 21... I am very close with my birth mother, but not my B father... I am 34 now...and am glad to have found them.

Hi alison, i'm assuming you are of western descent? I only ask because I'm Korean and have reunited with my birth mother (my birth father passed away before i was born) and i feel close to her but find it very hard to have a proper relationship with her because of the language barrier - however im now learning korean with the goal of being able to talk to her soon!

tams - that's great that you are learning to speak Korean! Good for you!
I have a reunion story that I'll share when I have more time. It's kind of long and very bittersweet...my birth mom died way back when I would have been only 7 years old. I was never told this information until I had searched over 10 years for her.
More later.....

Thanks Marymonica. Although sorry to hear your story about your birth mum passing away before you had a chance to meet her.
It must have been difficult having searched for her for over 10 years before finding out. I can't imagine what that would be like. And I thought it was difficult for me at 20 years old!
Would love to hear more when you have time. ![]()
